Rare black poplar trees planted at Wicksteed Park

National Tree Week 2023 took place from November 25th until December 3rd and Wicksteed Park got involved by planting rare trees in the South Meadow conservation land.

Thirteen black poplars were planted and this tree species is one of the rarest in the UK. The trees were donated to Wicksteed Park by a local couple who have made it their mission to re-introduce this rare tree species back into Northamptonshire.
