Get Involved in Wicksteed Park’s History Project

Do you have any memories of Wicksteed Park that you want to share? Get involved with our upcoming community project and have your history with Wicksteed Park heard.

The oral history project is collecting audio recordings of your favourite memories at the park and are looking for sixty by the end of April 2024. If you would like to get involved you can arrange to meet with the Community and Heritage team to record in person, or you can record it yourself and send it in via email to community@wicksteedpark.org. When sending your recording, the Community and Heritage team can send over some prompts to help you unearth your best Wicksteed Park memories.

Collected stories and memories will be edited together and become part of the Wicksteed Park archive. Any memory is valuable to the archive no matter how big or small and the recordings can be as short or as long as you want.

Oral history is part of Wicksteed Park’s @Play project which is supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. This project is an initiative to encourage more people to learn about the heritage of the park and the continued importance and value of play for the local community.
