Accolades are reward for all the hard work

It is amazing when all the hard work which people put in at Wicksteed Park is recognised, so it was particularly pleasing to receive two accolades in recent weeks.

Firstly, we are thrilled to have been named as one of the best value for money theme parks in the UK. Wicksteed landed an honourable spot on the top ten list after research was undertaken by group holiday and holiday property experts, Big Domain.

They compared the number of rides, cost of entry, parking fees, TripAdvisor ratings and Instagramability, across the UK and to finish in the top ten, is a testament to all our visitors as well as all our staff, who work so tirelessly to ensure that people have a great day out.

This comes as great news, following the recent announcement that our water chute – the oldest ride of its kind has been nominated in the 2022 UK Theme Park Awards.

The iconic ride, built by the park’s founder Charles Wicksteed in 1926 and a forerunner to many of the theme park rides now popular across the world, has made the shortlist in the Best Historic Ride category.

Award winners will be decided by the public, and you can vote for us by going to  www.ukthemeparkawards.com.

Voting will close on Friday September 2 with winners announced during an awards event at Drayton Manor theme park, Staffordshire, on Thursday September 22.

Wicksteed Charitable Trust

The Wicksteed Charitable Trust receives no regular external funding to help maintain the park as a truly unique, freely accessible public space. You can help to preserve the park for future generations by making donations. All money raised is used to help maintain the park and its grounds.
