Join us for an animated talk and guided walk exploring the special heritage of Wicksteed Park, talk and tour 11am and 2pm.
The talk uncovers the extraordinary legacy of Charles Wicksteed and extends beyond the Recreation Park. As an entrepreneur and innovator Charles was also an inventor and respected successful engineer. He created one of the UK’s first leisure parks Wicksteed and has played a significant role in the development of children’s play. The talk lasts for 45 minutes followed by a 45 minute guided walk to the recently listed Water chute installed in 1926, hear about Jerry the dog and his statue and gather under the recently restored roundhouse near the lake.
