More than 100 full and part time jobs have been announced at Wicksteed Park as it begins a new and exciting period in its development.
The jobs are available across all parts of the family attraction, including catering, rides and customer service and all recruits will be given full training before the park officially opens fully for the season on Saturday April 4.
Recruitment will begin with an employment day event in the Kettering park’s Pavilion from noon to 4pm on Saturday February 22. In previous years the jobs have primarily attracted over 18s, 18-25 year olds and semi-retired people but anyone with a genuine desire to work for the park has been invited to apply.
Anyone who is interested is asked to go to wicksteedpark.org to view all the roles and their requirements and register their interest in attending the event. A follow-up session will be held at the park from 4pm to 7pm on Friday March 6.
In recent years the park has successfully completed a £3million project to restore its lake, aided by a £1miilion National Lottery grant, and its £2.5million Historic Heart scheme, funded by the Wicksteed Charitable Trust, to transform the elegant Edwardian pavilion, central piazza and precinct.
This year the family attraction is beginning the implementation of its exciting new @play project, funded by a £1.78million grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, which will continue its transformation and preserve its unique history.
The @play project will include a heritage playground showcasing the early rides which park founder Charles Wicksteed used to transform the way children play in this country and across the world.
It will also include the restoration of the park’s Rose Garden, retaining its original character, and the upper floor of the Pavilion (the Captain’s Lounge) will be refurbished to create a new Learning Centre and events venue with views across the park from a restored veranda walkway.

“The jobs are mainly weekend, school holidays and evening work, and are seasonal flexible roles. The events will be an opportunity to understand a little more about the roles and give us chance to interview candidates who are suitable.
“Many of those who fill temporary jobs at the park each year are students and some will do three or four years in a row or stay and become full members of staff.
“In fact, some of the most senior employees at the park began their careers in part-time or seasonal roles. Our staff gain valuable experience which could be the first step towards a long-term career in the leisure industry.”
