Wicksteed secures major concerts deal

Wicksteed Park has secured a deal to host a series of outdoor events and concerts, featuring a host of star names, during 2021. The agreement, with Midlands-based M&B Promotions, will see the likes of comedians John Bishop, James Acaster and Jason Manford and a line-up of chart-topping singers performing next year, bringing in vital revenue for the park.

The deal not only provides the park with significant income over the next few years but also helps to establish Wicksteed Park as a truly unique venue.

The deal with M&B Promotions, which the park has previously worked with on sell-out events, will see more than 30 events held at the park in 2021.

They will include the launch of Wicksteed Park Open Air Theatre, which will be the venue for an all-star comedy event on Saturday June 26, with a line-up including John Bishop and James Acaster.

There will also be an open air music concert featuring “huge musical names” on Friday June 25.

A full list of events and dates has yet to be released but there are also plans for monthly On the Spot comedy nights in the Pavilion, bringing some of the biggest names in comedy to the stage at Wicksteed Park, as well as sporting, guest speaker and themed events.

Wicksteed Park managing director Lee Scragg said this said: “The deal which allows M&B Promotions to use the park grounds and the Pavilion as venues for their shows and events is a significant one and a sign of our determination to take the business forward.

”It is fantastic that household names will be performing in the park next year and this is just the start of the plans we have for the park and its future.”

James Penny from M&B Promotions said: “M&B are delighted to be working in partnership with Wicksteed Park on some huge events in 2021.

“M&B work with some of the biggest names in comedy, music and sports and will bring a host of internationally renowned stars to Wicksteed Park Open Air Theatre over the coming years, which we see as great for Northamptonshire and beyond.

“We currently have two big events planned for June with the potential for more moving forward. M&B will also continue to book shows for Wicksteed Park’s indoor venue.

“The partnership will see us handle the production of each event and manage all marketing, ticketing and box office requirements.

“Wicksteed Park is hugely important for the local area and we look forward to working together with the management team on developing further plans.”
