Animal Care Manager
Wicksteed Park are looking for an Animal Care Manager. Reporting to the Head of Operations, this role delivers exceptional customer experience, engagement and education with our animal attractions at the park. The role establishes relationships and recognises opportunities to build our animal attractions and experiences ensuring that they are attractive, exciting and suitable to our audience.
Health and safety is also a key responsibility of this role. Ensuring safe, efficient and effective management of animals within the park, the job holder is responsible for proactively managing risk assessments and safety policies whilst ensuring the team is trained to maintain the best possible care.
Wicksteed Park is much more than an amusement park, the park was officially opened in 1921 by Charles Wicksteed as part of his vision to inspire and encourage play to improve the health and well-being of families. Wicksteed Park offers over 147 acres of beautiful heritage green space and exciting rides and amusements which attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year to play and explore its beautiful grounds.
This is a full-time position working 40 hours a week on a 7 day rota. We are looking for an enthusiastic team player who will enjoy working with the wider team to focus on customer experience.
The Animal Care Manager will be responsible for:
- Leading the Animal Care team and creating a team environment that promotes good team morale and ensures a high level of commitment and pride in the Park.
- Ensuring that all customers have an excellent and consistent visit each time.
- Engaging with our audience through animal experiences, education, and social media.
- Ensuring safe, efficient, effective, and humane treatment of all animal livestock within the Park.
- Ensure that the animal attractions operate effectively on a day-to-day basis, in line with the company and brand standards, and that the appearance of the Park creates a professional impression to guests and employees.
- Maintain appropriate records to monitor animal care and health and safety compliance, this includes the use of daily check sheets and risk assessment review in collaboration with the Head of Operations.
- Leading the Animal Care team and creating a team environment that promotes good team morale and ensures a high level of commitment and pride in the Park.

We are looking for someone who:
- Has an appropriate animal care qualification, Level 3 or above qualification in Animal Welfare or Animal Management.
- Has demonstrable experience in leading and working as part of a team.
- Is able to champion innovation and continued improvement to benefit the business.
- Enjoys working outdoors and can adapt to work flexibly in line with business requirement.
- Can work in collaboration with other teams in the business to maintain the best customer experience possible.
