NEW in 2014!
Fancy flying across the park at 40 mph? Then experience our new adventure experience #RUSH , challenge yourself and get a real buzz. Experiences include a giant zip wire, a climbing wall and the terrifying ‘Leap of Faith’. Please bring sensible clothes and footwear. It’s an ideal group activity and we cater for some disabilities. Height and weight restrictions apply.
Our restored lake includes many new features that are well worth finding. We have a new shingle beach, a 90m pontoon and soon will have a ferry to lazily travel around the lake. To celebrate the opening of the lake we have got some fabulous new rowing boats that have a double set of oars.
We have created a fantastic old fashioned sweet shop full of delicious delights whose aroma will get your taste buds going straight away. Take a journey back and time and experiment with lots of different flavours. Many are hand made by the famous Humbug King himself!
Create a unique and lasting souvenir of your visit with a wax model of your hand – it is quick and easy to make and you can personalise in many ways. It is also an ideal activity for birthday parties.
Discover Wicksteed Park…
We have over 30 rides and activities around the park to keep you occupied all day including thrill rides , water rides, young fun and family favourites. Many of the rides have height restrictions so please check which rides you can go on using our new calculator. For smaller children we have introduced a cheaper “mini me” wristband as some of the rides will be too big for them.
We have oodles of space to explore including lakeside walks, a hidden arboretum, play areas and nature zones. Bring along your bat and ball or kite, spread out your picnic rug, enjoy the views, and spend valuable time with your friends and family relaxing in this historic grade II leisure park.
Our campers love our site for its huge space, easy access to the park and plenty of things to do with the children including rides, nature walks, eating out or just watching the world go by – that is why we have four star rating on Trip Advisor.
Why not celebrate that special occasion at the park from a family picnic to hiring one of our rooms for grander events such as weddings, birthday parties or anniversaries. The Pavilion can cater for hundreds but if you wish something a little smaller we also hire our Celebration Suite and cafes for more relaxed affairs.
This is where it all began! Wicksteed Park is world famous for its role in providing innovative play spaces and the park was the first place in the world where new devices were launched and tested. Play is still very important to us and we will be investing in a variety of cool play schemes over the next few years so watch this space! This year we have created an adventure tower – #RUSH and new beaches.

If you haven’t been to the park for a while you will immediately notice that our parking system has changed. To enter please push the button and take a ticket to open the barrier and remember to pay before you leave!. There are two payment machines, one by reception and the other opposite the main toilet block c.60m away. If you pay for your parking with these machines you will have 20 minutes grace period to leave the park.
On ride days you can also save a lot of time and pay for your ticket when you purchase your ride tickets / wristbands providing you plan on staying more than 3 hours. We will validate your ticket for you and it will allow you to stay in the park until it closes around sunset. We think the new barrier makes the park a securer place for all which is good news and it should reduce the queuing time to get into the park.
